Summary:
The chapter opens with Goten and Trunks continuing their fight against Cell Max. Despite their best efforts, they fail to defeat him. Cell Max is too powerful and too durable.
Just when all hope seems lost, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 arrive to help. The four of them work together to take on Cell Max, but even their combined strength isn’t enough. Cell Max is just too strong.
Desperate to save the day, Gamma 2 decides to sacrifice himself. He uses all of his remaining energy to self-destruct, hoping to take Cell Max with him. However, Cell Max survives the explosion, albeit weakened.
With Gamma 2 gone, Goten, Trunks, and Gamma 1 are left to fight Cell Max alone. Everyone is hurt and exhausted, but they refuse to give up. They continue to fight even though they know they are defeated.
Eventually, Goten and Trunks are able to defeat Cell Max by using their combined calibre(power) to send out a powerful Kamehameha wave. Cell Max is eventually destroyed, but not before destroying West City.
The chapter ends with Goten, Trunks, and Gamma 1 standing over the ruins of West City. They are triumphant, but also sad and brooding. They know that the damage has already been done and that their recovery will take a long time.
Chapter Notes:
This chapter is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s great to see Goten and Trunks finally getting their chance to shine. They’ve been sidelined for far too long, and it’s heartening to see them finally defeat a powerful foe.
On the other hand, the chapter is also a bit depressing. The destruction of West City is a stark reminder of the cost of war. It’s also a reminder that even the mightiest of heroes can’t always save the day.
Overall, this chapter is a solid entry into the Dragon Ball Super manga. It has a good balance of action, humor and emotion. He is also preparing some interesting stories for the future.
