 Summary

After reaching the top of the tower, Gokū searches for the Holy Water, which is said to give him exponential power. However, he hears a voice that calls to him and directs him to the very top of the tower. The voice turns out to be from a cat praising the boy for reaching the top of the tower. The cat then appears as the hermit Gokū he is looking for and directs the boy to the super holy water.
The hermit then reads Goku's heart and discovers his purpose in seeking the holy water, shocking the boy. After realizing that he has no evil intentions, the hermit challenges the boy to obtain the holy water by having to pass through it. As Gokū tries to keep up with the hermit, he reveals that he is being held back by hunger, and the hermit simply feeds him Senzu, which quickly relieves the boy of his hunger.
A certain Gokū tries to get water again, but still can't get it from the hermit. A tired Gokū asks if he is the first to reach the top of the tower, but the hermit reveals that the first person to reach the tower and drink the holy water was the boy's master, Muten Rōshi, much to the young boy's surprise. After revealing his name as Karin, the hermit also reveals that it took three years for Rōshi to take his water.
