Summary

After three years, the Dragon Team prepared for the 22nd Tenka-Ichi Budōkai. Muten Rōshi, Bulma, Kulilin, Yamcha, Puar, Oolong, and Lunch take a plane to Papaya Island, eagerly awaiting the Budōkai and their reunion with Goku. Amusingly, Lunch and Rōshi are plagued with problems - fighting the urge to hijack the plane and use the restroom.
After the plane lands and Muten Rōshi delays the group from going to the restroom, the Dragon Team heads towards the arena. Yamcha and Kulilin register for the tournament, and Rōshi discreetly registers as "Jackie Chun" after checking that Gokū has registered. With three minutes left until the registers close, Muten Rōshi runs into an old "friend", Tsuru Sennin. The two bicker angrily and the Tsuru Sennin declares that his two students will be the Budōkai winners and stars this time, not the Rōshi. As the Tsuru Sennin leaves, Rōshi explains that it was his former rival.
With only a minute left to register, Yamcha asks Puar to transform into Gokū so he can be registered, even if he is late. However, Gokū arrives at the last minute and Róshi hastily registers him. The boy explains his delay by saying that he swam all the way from Yahhoya – a distant city on the other side of the world. Gokū, Kulilin, and Yamcha, disguised as their regular school turtle dōgi, enter the preliminary matches to face Jackie Chun again. Outside, of course, Róshi is nowhere to be found. Gokū eagerly tells Jackie Chun that he wants to be the one to win this time; Jackie admits to himself that he has been secretly training for this and has no intention of losing.
