Summary
When Kame-Sennin, Gokū, and Kulilin arrive at Tenka-Ichi Budōkai, the two young boys register for the preliminary round. The Kame Sennin eventually part ways with the two, but not before handing them the orange robes that signify their affiliation with the Turtle School. As the Kame-Sennin heads into the crowd, both boys anxiously enter their preliminaries. After the announcer explains the rules and regulations and reveals that there are 137 registered fighters, to Kulilin’s surprise, both he and Gokū learn their numbers and places in the bracket. While Kulilin is nervous, Goku is confident that they can handle the training the Kame-Sennin put them through.
Gokū is then summoned to face an opponent who is much larger than the little boy, but Goku is able to easily defeat him. Subsequently, Kulilin meets his former classmates from Oorin Temple, to whom Kulilin reveals that he was bullied by them. As Gokū is confident that Kulilin will defeat his former student in an exhibition, the match begins. Kulilin, as Gokū anticipated, is able to easily knock out his opponent, much to Kulilin’s surprise. At that time, Gokū realizes that the Kame-Sennin’s training has actually made them both stronger.
